115 years of Toblerone - the true story behind
In 1908, Theodor Tobler and his cousin Emil Baumann invented the Toblerone in Bern.
It is probably the most famous chocolate in the world, there is hardly a shop where it is not available. And hardly anyone celebrates this birthday besides us.
A global player from the very first minute?
On the contrary - here and only at the Swiss Chocolate World you can find out more about the real

100 years of Cailler Frigor
Yes, hardly 100 years have passed and we are already celebrating. At least with us. Because many seem to have escaped the fact that the Cailler Frigor first saw the light of day in 1923 and already delighted the palates of our ancestors.
So more than enough reason for the Swiss Chocolate World to make a big party out of this wonderfully creamy chocolate, which is extremely popular in Switzerland.
And that's why we celebrate the Cailler Frigor all year round with a 100th anniversary.

What else does Swiss Chocolate World offer you?
As you can already see under About us, we are really excited about our national symbol, Swiss chocolate. The story has fascinated us even more than the pure daily enjoyment. Interestingly, there was no complete work in the previous literature, so we had to do a lot of research ourselves and soon realized that it was enormously extensive. And so the vision came about to set up Swiss Chocolate Worlds as adventure parks around the globe. The press also wanted to know more about this and asked for an interview. Until then, you already have the opportunity here to learn a lot about the history and the brands and, of course, to discover live chocolate worlds. So if you should ever be in Switzerland - one of the following museums is definitely on your way. You know, chocolate makes you happy

Â
Which chocolate brand is best for me? Â
This of course is a question of taste - and many choose their favorite brand based on how well known it is. Of course it always helps if you already know the chocolate brand, but it may prevent you from getting to know new things and maybe even never finding your future favorite chocolate. And that's actually the reason for us to bring you closer to real Swiss chocolate that you didn't have on your radar before. Because even the Swiss are not familiar with some of our chocolate brands - probably because you won't find them in every corner here. Not because it would not meet the taste of the customers - quite the opposite. Rather because they are small, fine manufacturers that produce fine niche chocolates, organic chocolates made from goat's milk such as BlĂĽemlisberg, for example, or the bean-to-bar chocolates from LaFlor, which maintain personal relationships with their cocoa farmers, or the award-winning Taucherli.
What every Swiss, on the other hand, knows are Cailler, Ragusa, Munz, Minor and of course the global brands Lindt, Toblerone and Ovomaltine. Villars and Maestrani – it depends on which language region you come from. And in tourist areas you will always come across the Swiss Army knife made of chocolate from Felchlin or the gold bars from Goldkenn or the Schöggeli from Swiss Dream.
No matter how you decide - you really can't be wrong, because each of the chocolates stands for the highest Swiss chocolate quality. Thanks to our filter function, you can of course also choose your chocolates according to your own preferences - and the nice thing about it is that there are already savings starting from 5 chocolates. And now have fun on the journey of discovery of your future favorite chocolates from Switzerland and putting together your chocolate package. Â Â Â

Why is Swiss chocolate so famous and where is the chocolate capital actually located?Â
Switzerland has an absolutely fascinating chocolate story. We have been a bit later than our neighboring countries, but then innovations came from our country that continue to shape chocolate around the world today. The milk chocolate, the melt-in-the-mouth chocolate, the white chocolate, the ruby chocolate. Who invented it? The Swiss! And especially the milk chocolate and the melt-in-the-mouth chocolate were absolute revolutions of their time and shaped the global image that "Swiss chocolate is the best". If you would like to take a closer look at the history of chocolate, then have a look at our website capital of chocolate. Yes, that is also in Switzerland. The whole world knows the city because it is also the capital of Switzerland, but hardly anyone associates Berne as the capital of chocolate. How do we get that?
Well, you probably know the following Swiss chocolate brands, whose chocolate history we will briefly look at here:
In 1814 Philippe Suchard started his apprenticeship with his brother Friedrich in Berne in the Kramgasse. He stays there for 8 years and then founds the Suchard company in Neuchâtel – you probably know it because of that Suchard Express. But also the Milka is a product that came from Suchard and was developed together with a company from Konolfingen, which is only about 20 km from Berne. A little anecdote about this company: they have also produced the Bärenmarke - the famous coffee creamer and the bear is a reminiscence of the city of Berne, the capital of chocolate.
In 1879 Rodolphe Lindt invented in Berne next to the river Aare, the melt-in-the-mouth chocolate and the conching process. Yes, that's right - Lindt was originally a Bernese company that was sold 20 years later to SprĂĽngli in Zurich and was henceforth called Lindt & SprĂĽngli.
But the chocolate story of Berne is far from over. Because the first seller to sell the revolutionary Lindt chocolate was the father of Theodor Tobler. In 1908, together with his cousin Emil Baumann, they invented the Toblerone . Where? Of course also in Berne - in the Länggasse.
However, in order to really be allowed to bear the name Capital of Chocolate, you still need the company Wander that in 1904 at Holzikofenweg in Berne brought to the market the Ovomaltine/Ovaltine . And Camille Bloch, whose Ragusa became one of the most popular nut chocolates, did his apprenticeship at Chocolat Tobler before founding his own company in Berne.
Â
I want to go to a Swiss chocolate museumÂ
You see, we've done quite a bit of research into chocolate history and found out a lot more. That's why we appeared already 7x in the media - not only journalists declare the chocolate history of Berne - the capital of chocolate as very fascinating.
That's why we want to build up a chocolate museum Swiss Chocolate World in Berne. And not only there, but everywhere, where Swiss chocolate history was made. Until then, we have a few Swiss Chocolate Museums linked for you that are worth visiting. The nice thing about it is that if you only drive through Switzerland, for example if you are planning your summer vacation on the Mediterranean, you will almost automatically pass a chocolate museum. You will find the chocolate brands Maestrani with Munz and Minor next to St.Gallen, Lindt in Zurich, Aeschbach near Lucerne, Camille Bloch in the Jura and Cailler if you drive from Berne in the direction of Vevey, Montreux at Lake Geneva.
Safe packaging, safe chocolate shippingÂ
Let's get back to the shop. Chocolate is foodstuff that doesn't like it too cold nor too warm. We send your Swiss chocolate in a specially developed package that prevents the heat from penetrating as much as possible. In midsummer we put in additional cooling elements. If it is very hot or very cold, then it is better to put the chocolate package in a cooler place for half a day after receiving it, for example in the cellar. This is how we ensure that your chocolate arrives intact. And when the delicious chocolate is in front of you or your recipient after opening the chocolate package, you can certainly imagine how great the joy is!Â
If you want to buy more than one chocolate package and the Swiss chocolates are to be delivered to different addresses, we need a separate order for each package. Otherwise, you only have to make sure that your order does not exceed € 150. - this is not our fault, but a question of customs. As with any online order, your data is required, which we will of course treat confidentially and securely. You have the choice between several convenient payment options.Â
We wish you a lot of fun choosing your Swiss chocolate! Discover your personal favorite chocolate, we look forward to your order! If you have any questions, you can easily reach our chocolate delivery service via live chat or email. We gladly accept ideas, suggestions and criticism. We will get back to you and our friendly, competent team will be there for you!
